Put Your Dress Back On!

In my experience, I would say that the majority of my brides are spending at least a year to plan their perfect wedding day. They are surrounded by good friends, siblings, parents, all putting forth some effort into making the day the most magical is can be. In a blink of an eye, through all the planning, endless details, and long nights your day will be here and you will have no idea where the time went. I always tell my brides on the wedding day to soak in every last moment because as quickly as this day has arrived it will be over before we know it! I encourage each of them to take the time to really be present, remember the way you feel in your dress, how beautiful your flowers are, how delicious your cake is because today is finally the day to enjoy all the work and effort they put into one of the biggest milestones of their life.

I think that one of the most notable details to the bride would be her dress. It takes time to find the perfect one and when you do it is a moment that you just don’t forget. I got married six years ago and I still remember what it was like when I put on “the dress.” It’s a distinctive moment in time, one that will always bring a smile to your face for years to come. So for some of my brides wearing it for just one day does not seem long enough and this was the case for Lisa and Patrick.

Lisa and Patrick had a beautiful wedding here in Naperville. It was a perfect summer day, they were surrounded by family and friends who adored them and we had an absolute blast spending the day with them and documenting their wedding.  A few weeks after their wedding I got an email from Lisa, she had told me how much they loved the “sneak peak” of their photos they had seen and what a great time they had on their wedding day. In looking through her mini preview of pictures she realized not only how much she loved her pictures but just how much she loved her dress! She proposed she put her dress back on and her husband put his tux back on and do more pictures in Chicago. This was music to my ears! There is nothing sweeter than hearing one of your brides come back to you and say, “Let do more photos!” so that is exactly what we did!

We started at the Honeycomb Bridge in Lincoln Park, headed to the Cafe Brauer in the Lincoln Park Zoo, and then made our way over to the Shed Aquarium so we could utilize our spectacular Chicago skyline just before a storm came in. Nothing beats the view of Chicago with big ominous clouds rolling in behind the buildings.

Another perfect day of celebrating a beautiful love story and a couple who truly understands how important these memories are and wanted to make sure they were documented to reflect on for years to come.

Much Love,

Samantha
