Amelia H was one of the eight Alicia’s Photography high school senior models that traveled to New York City for their stylized photoshoot and personal senior session. She definitely rocked her Senior Photos! We started early so we were able to start our photoshoot in front of the New York Public Library without having a crowd watching us. Starting early in the morning helped with the heat and we loved having the library to ourselves.
Because the morning was quite and there weren’t many people around, we took advantage of the situation and moved the cafe table and chairs in front of the library entrance. I love the look of solitude in this image. It gives a high fashion / editorial feel to the image.
I’m in love with European architecture so shooting in front to the NY Public Library had my creative juices flowing. Maybe this year we will take our Chicago Naperville High School Senior Models to Europe for their shoot. Wouldn’t that be inspiring?
Our Senior Models apply in January of every year. We have several hundred applicants and typically select around thirty high school senior girls and guys. We had seven different themed senior model shoots for the class of 2020 and New York was one of the themes.
The other six photoshoots were done locally. Oak Brook, Chicago, Geneva, Warrenville, Naperville, Wheaton Illinois were just a few of the locations that we used for our Alicia’s Photography senior models.
Each of our senior model sessions are put together by our stylist, and hair and makeup team. These images are actually from Amelia’s personal Senior session. Our hair and makeup artist Delaney Johnson did a great job with Amelia’s cute hair style and gorgeous makeup.
Because we were shooting away from our Naperville Chicago Photography Studio, and had eight seniors that traveled with us, we had to work on a tight schedule to ensure that all of our seniors got exactly what they wanted from their sessions. Each senior gets 3 different outfits and locations plus we needed to do their senior model photoshoot as a group at the end of the day. That meant long days in the New York City July heat. Amelia’s high school senior photos started out a bit cooler since we got an early start.
Amelia’s second outfit was super fun and colorful so the only place that made sense to me was Time Square. What high school senior wouldn’t want senior pictures in Times Square?
Seriously LOVE the high fashion vibe going on here! Amelia was a natural in front of the camera! Times Square has never looked so good!
She looks like she means business! Hard to believe that she’s only 17 years old. She certainly has a lot of confidence in front of the camera.
Amelia’s third look had a bit of a boho look to it so Central Park was in order. We decided on bridge no. 27 . I fell in love with the period look and the French design.
Amelia’s mom love fashion and did such a great job of styling her outfits for the day.
I sure would be up for coming to New York City from Chicago once a year if anybody wants an NYC Senior session with Alicia’s Photography. I was having the time of my life! There is still so much of the city that I would love to use for locations.
Because Amelia is a dance, we through in a couple of dance images at the end of her Senior picture session.
She certainly looks fierce!
After Amelia’s (Naperville Central) senior photos wrapped up, I continued with Jordan L’s (Bartlett High School) and Izzy T’s ( Benet Academy) high school senior session before we met back for their group High School senior model session at the Flat Iron Building in New York City. I was looking for iconic places in NYC and what could be more iconic than the flat iron building?
Ugh! I just love the images from this shoot! I am one happy photographer when I’m able to control the entire shoot from clothing, hair and makeup, to location. Time for a happy dance!
Delaney Johnson did a great job styling this shoot and the hair and makeup is spot on! Amelia you were an amazing model!
I will say that doing a model shoot in such a busy location with tons of traffic is a logistical nightmare but for some reason working on adrenaline always gets my juices flowing!
I will ride high on the memories of this shoot for a long time! Although, it certainly already has me scheming and planning our shoots for the class of 2021. The applications are all turned in for this years models and we will be announcing them next week. We are blessed to have applicants from all over the world. I guess I better get my plane tickets and start packing my bags soon. The Alicia’s Photography jet setting senior models are going to be busy this year!
